The preliminary’s are over, students are now full steam ahead for their GCE O levels. Our Additional Mathematics tutorial classes are focusing on the last 20% of their marks, after evaluating their weaknesses.
Usually by this time of the year, our students will score around the 80% mark, and there is a need to make up for that last 20%. Some of the marks will be lost to carelessness, which is always a concern especially in the heat of doing the exams proper, but nonetheless, it should not be wasted so we get students to hone in on getting used to the exam stress and handling the O levels in a calm manner. The rest of the marks will be questions that is harder in nature, and these are the ones that we help our O level students to attempt.
They are almost there, and after the preliminary exams, they have gathered more experience and confidence to attempt their GCE O levels, which is just all good in getting them battle ready.

The PSLE preliminary internal school examinations results are back and our students scores from 80-90 percent, which is a success for this year’s cohort. The students that started our classes at the beginning of the year has a score of 55-70 so their PSLE Preliminary school results have improved by an aggregate of approximately 20 percentile. That is a three/four grade jump and we are so proud of their handwork and perseverance so far this year.

No two students are ever the same, have the same problems or even studying the same things, at the same time, at the same speed. That means we customise our classes to each individual student according to their needs. Spending time understanding their character is also a very important part of our process.
The PSLE classes are currently going through examination papers, and final revision to capture the last 10/20 percent of their marks, going through topics that they have identified as the remnants of their weaknesses and improving their aggregates a few more percentile.

Today’s Primary 5 Science class, Mr Wong teaches Electricity- Conductors and Insulators (including the materials graphite, water, mercury and gold.) We talked about how dangerous it is with water, using a pacemaker for our heart, how is an electric light bulb is made, and how we heat water and cook food using electricity.

Tendency to rush through and making mistakes is one problem with this class that we are trying to eradicate. So instructions for these 3 students are: read carefully, double check, calculate properly and pick the right MCQ options.
Upon completion, take the remaining checking and thinking tangentially to make sure they have the right methods.
